PPH Media has launched the first Urban Tech & Smart City Awards to recognize Hungarian projects that use digital technologies, artificial intelligence and smart infrastructure to improve sustainability, efficiency and liveability in towns and cities. The competition will present awards in seven categories covering a broad range of urban tech and smart city solutions.
Why the awards were created
In recent years, tools such as artificial intelligence, digital twins and intelligent infrastructure have reshaped how cities are planned and managed. Although similar developments—ranging from systems that optimise energy use to solutions for better traffic management and urban climate improvements—are being implemented in Hungary, many of these projects still lack sufficient professional and public visibility. The Urban Tech & Smart City Awards aim to fill that gap by surfacing and celebrating noteworthy domestic initiatives.

Entries are invited in seven categories:
- Smart Home
- Intelligent Buildings
- Smart Logistics
- Urban Mobility
- Smart Infrastructure
- Urban AI & Data Driven
- Green Infrastructure
Who can enter
Companies, startups, municipalities, utility operators, property developers, research institutes and universities, as well as any organisation that has implemented an innovative urban or community development project, are eligible to apply.
Evaluation and recognition
Submissions will be judged by a jury made up of recognised experts in urban technology, smart cities, energy, digitalisation, construction and sustainability. Finalists will receive presentation opportunities on PPH Media’s professional platforms, and category winners will be honoured at a formal awards ceremony.
Deadlines
Submission deadline: 21 September 2026.

The initiative seeks not only to award outstanding projects but also to collect and promote good practices so that data-driven urban developments in Hungary gain wider recognition and impact.
