BUPA, part of MBH Csoport, has introduced an AI-based pre-qualification service that automatically assesses which European Union grants and bank financing options may be relevant for a Hungarian micro, small or medium-sized enterprise, and provides an estimate of the potential total amount of support. The system uses publicly available official company data, including company extracts, records from the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV), and financial ratios.
Users do not need to fill in questionnaires or manually submit data: the pre-qualification result appears automatically on the BUPA platform based on those available records. The service identifies accessible funding and financing schemes and gives preliminary estimates of the combined support and loan amounts that could apply to a given company.
Why this matters for SMEs
In the coming period, several new EU funding and financing opportunities may become available to Hungarian firms, covering areas such as technological development, energy-efficiency investments, and measures supporting green and digital transitions. Selecting appropriate calls and checking eligibility criteria can be time-consuming, especially for companies without dedicated capacity to monitor support programs continuously.
BUPA’s system aims to reduce that burden: when a new funding instrument appears or the terms of an existing financing form change, users can receive automatic e-mail alerts about opportunities relevant to their pre-qualification. This can help businesses learn about suitable funding in time and make faster decisions on development or investment plans.
How the platform complements banking services
Alongside traditional bank financing, MBH Bank supports access to EU funds and, through its corporate MFB Pont Plusz network, offers zero-interest and discounted financing schemes. BUPA’s new pre-qualification feature supplements these supports with digital tools.
The platform is developed by MBH eFin Technologies Zrt. In addition to bank-independent financial management, it provides banking and invoicing data, financial analyses, cashflow forecasting, and tracking of financial obligations for companies.
Executive comment
"In the coming period, multiple EU funding and financing opportunities are likely to become available to domestic companies. At such times, it is particularly important that firms quickly understand which resources may be relevant to them. MBH Csoport and BUPA aim to provide substantive assistance in this process. BUPA’s new AI-based pre-qualification function is another element of that approach, with which we hope to help Hungarian SMEs find growth-supporting opportunities more easily and rapidly, thereby strengthening the whole domestic entrepreneurial ecosystem," said Kovásznai Ádám, head of the BUPA business unit.
Related corporate event
On the same day MBH Bank holds an extraordinary general meeting to decide on the election of a new supervisory board member. The nominee has attracted attention because they may represent the state owner and have previously appeared in discussions related to the Tisza government’s economic policy context.
