Revolut launches AIR conversational AI assistant for Hungarian users

Revolut has started rolling out AIR (AI by Revolut), a conversational artificial intelligence assistant, to users in Hungary. The in-app feature lets customers ask natural-language questions about their own finances and, in some cases, initiate actions directly through the assistant.

Rollout timing and availability

The service began appearing for European customers from September 1 and is being deployed gradually; as a result, not all Hungarian users will receive the feature at the same time. Within the app, AIR is accessible by pulling down from the middle of the screen or via Profile → Chats → AIR.

What AIR can do

Revolut designed AIR to move part of the app’s menu- and function-based workflows into a conversation-driven interface. Instead of manually reviewing transactions, a user can ask the assistant how much they spent on groceries last month. Key capabilities highlighted by Revolut include:

  • Summarising and analysing spending (for example, showing expenditures by category).
  • Reviewing and managing subscriptions.
  • Performing simple actions such as temporarily freezing a lost bank card.
  • Investment queries: checking a company’s stock performance or the return on a user’s portfolio over a given period.
  • Travel planning: users can describe a trip they are planning and AIR can suggest multi-day itineraries, find suitable dates, and offer recommendations based on previous bookings and spending patterns.
  • Searching and booking accommodation via integration with Revolut Stays.
  • Simplifying the use of RevPoints by showing ways to earn or redeem points for travel services, eSIMs or airport lounge access.

Personalised answers through in-app data access

Unlike a generic customer-service chatbot, AIR can access information and functions available within the Revolut app for the specific user. That access enables personalised responses and recommendations that draw on the user’s own spending history or investment data.

Privacy and security

Revolut says AIR adheres to the same privacy and security requirements as the rest of the app. The company states the system operates under a zero data retention policy for external AI partners: those partners do not store users’ data and do not use it to train external models.

Julia Ponomareva, Revolut’s head of customer experience and AI products, said the company’s goal is to reduce the time users spend navigating menus and let them handle financial matters by asking direct questions.

Why this matters

AIR represents another step toward conversation-driven mobile banking, aiming to reduce friction by enabling natural-language interactions and personalised, in-context assistance. At the same time, AI in a financial app raises heightened privacy and security concerns, which Revolut says it is addressing through its existing safeguards.

How to access it

Because the rollout is gradual, the appearance of AIR will vary across users. Once available, it can be accessed by pulling down from the middle of the app screen or through Profile → Chats → AIR.
