YouTube expands AI tools in YouTube Studio to help creators optimize videos

At its Made On YouTube annual event, YouTube announced several AI-driven updates for the YouTube Studio mobile app, which creators use to manage their channels. The changes are designed to help creators analyze unpublished and published videos and grow their audiences.

Ask Studio comes to mobile

YouTube is expanding Ask Studio, its AI-powered question-and-answer feature, to iOS and Android. This lets creators ask analytics and performance questions from their phones and receive quick, AI-generated responses about their channel and videos.

Draft feedback and a new research feed

One new feature provides AI feedback on drafts: the system reviews an unpublished video and offers suggestions about pacing, structure, and storytelling. YouTube is also introducing a research feed in the Studio app that highlights what types of content are currently performing well on the platform, so creators can adapt those trends to their own style.

AI-generated thumbnails and titles, plus dynamic thumbnails

Because creators are selective about preview images and titles, the Studio app will now generate thumbnails and titles based on a video’s content and aligned to a creator’s style. A new dynamic thumbnail feature can generate three options and show each to a different segment of the audience to determine which performs best.

A/B testing milestones and upcoming automation

YouTube said creators have run more than 40 million A/B tests on titles and thumbnails. The company also said that soon creators will be able to test up to three video cuts to find the most effective opening hook. Later this year, YouTube Studio will automatically monitor thumbnail performance and proactively replace one if it is underperforming.

Analytics that explain performance

YouTube is updating analytics to go beyond raw metrics by explaining why videos perform the way they do and offering advice on how to make content more engaging.

Other creator tools

In addition to the Studio app updates, YouTube introduced other creator tools announced at the event, including conversational editing in Shorts and enhancements in the YouTube Create app.

These updates aim to make decision-making and experimentation easier for creators, using AI to deliver more actionable, personalized feedback on their videos.
